Denim organiser

Denim jeans are Normally something that everyone has one or two pairs of laying around, if you are anything like me you go through them on a regular basis, whether you grow out of them, stain them or rip them, they can usually be reused.

I first saw this idea on Pinterest and it was a why reinvent the wheel moment, someone has designed, sewn and reinforced all these pockets so why not use them as pockets. I think denim is also a warm fabric with some brilliant textures that can decorate any wall.

Coins to Necklace

So Yesterday I was at the Continental market in Durham and saw something I hadn’t seen before. Someone had taken some old coins (but I presume not that valuable) and cut them into different shapes. The Stonehenge one was my favourite!

MakerFaire 2015

So after a wonderful time at MakerFaire 2014, where I not only showed off upcycled items but gave people a chance to make something themselves, I decided to do it all over again! As per my normal behaviour I filled out my application at the last minute, was pleased when I got a maker’s space and the promptly left most of the prep until the last minute.

Denim storage bowl

Most people have an old pair of jeans laying around that is no longer suitable for wearing, or in my case about half a dozen pairs. This little storage bowl, suitable for putting all sorts of bits and bobs in, is easy to make, you don’t need any special sewing skills or a sewing machine.

We all have a selection of small toys around the house, especially those that are occupied by small and not so small children. A quick and easy way to keep one of these or to re-use a favourite one is to make it into a keying.

Fabric flower – hair decoration

Fabric flowers are a quick and easy way to use a scrap of fabric to make something beautiful for your hair, for a bag, a notepad or anywhere else that you like to put it. I started making these for a mayday celebration for the Stroke association and thought I would spread the joy. This is also a project that people will be able to make at Makerfaire2015. 

Juice carton purse

Juice carton purses are a really easy way to make a little coin purse or even one big enough for your cards. It is also perfect as first wallet for the kids, they can decorate and change it as much as they want.

Paper Bags

Paper bags are an easy way to make a bag that can left plain or decorated, stamped or painted to make something unique. For my Jewellery I tend to make them out of Newspaper, as it is an easy to get ahold of material and you often end up with very interesting bags.
